Living without electricity

The recent ice storms that came through took our power out.  I will say that the ice on the trees is so gorgeous.  We have enjoyed the beauty of the storm.  I am looking into what we need to survive without power.  We ended up going away so that we would stay warm.  Water is the bigest issue here.

It is so good to be back.

Our first expenditure up North was a woodheater. You can go as pricey or cheap as you prefer. Lowe's, Menards, Home Depot...they all have them. Kerosene heaters are much safer now than they used to be, but you still want decent ventilation. And there are some propane heaters out there now that are really great for short-term heating of rooms -- by short term I just mean you aren't looking to use them for main heat your whole winter season. These propane ones range in price. Even WalMart carries them.
