Humming Homeschool Days

Some days are so much easier than other days.

Today has been a bit of a challenge.  Some one clicking their pencil on the table to annoy the others.   A toddler who isn't happy taking her nap.  And a spammer on my blog.  Sigh,  I like to leave the comments open to everyone but anonymous comments will be deleted.

We have switched our schedule around here a bit and are really loving it.  It seems to be going much easier, well normally.

We have started to do our History/Geography, Spelling, Bible, and Science in the morning.
Then during nap time we do Math, Grammar and any reading assignments.  We are sporadic with our handwriting and so we are figuring out where to place it into our schedule.

Along with that is the normal upkeep of the home.  Which is getting easier.  I never thought I would say that.  But as the children get older the home is staying cleaner.  And I am loving having helpers in the kitchen.

So how do you schedule your day?

We have those rough days too :o) I hope you were able to get it all worked out.

We tried for a long time to get school done in the morning, but it was just not happening for us with the fact that we are not morning people and an ornery toddler running around. So now, we get up, get most of our chores done by lunch time, and then after lunch, school starts starting with a read aloud, and then into Bible, math, and all other subjects follow. It's been working really well for us this way.

Blessings,
sara

Sara,

it is good to hear others doing the school in the afternoons. I think sometimes we Titus 2 women look for the "perfect" schedule and forget that what works for one family may not work for us. Or even what works in one season of life may not work in a different season.

have a blessed day,
Mrs.B

Well, my kids aren't old enough to be in school yet, but we still have a pretty busy day. Up for breakfast, change (or vise-versa, depending if anyone soaked their PJ's during the night), play time while I do chores (clean kitchen, laundry), then more play time with Mommy, snack, play, lunch, play, nap, play, snack, play, Daddy takes them to the park after work while I fix dinner, dinner, play, bath, play, story time, bed. Yep, like with a 13 month old and a 2 year old. :) My 2 year old does like to help with the chores though and will actually wipe the table up if I give her a hand towel. Gotta love that! And if we have errands, that gets done in the morning. And playing does involve learning through singing, coloring, doing puzzles, building blocks and intermittent story reading - they really LOVE books. :) It'll be interesting to see how the schedule changes after the third one arrives in August! My oldest won't be 2 1/2 yet! :) My kids are definitely morning people like their Mama, so when we start schooling, it will probably be in the morning. We'll see though when that time comes in a 1.5 years. :)

Thanks for sharing! I'm always watching what other home school mama's do. :)

Tegan,

The days with all little ones can be so fun. We used a book called Slow and Steady Get Me Ready to help get them ready for school. Loved it. And also Discovery Toys are my favorite. While I was blogging my little guy was in the office playing with his Discovery toys and shouting out his colors. Such a great time of teaching.

Thanks for sharing about your days!

In HIS Keeping,
Mrs.B
