A cooking question

I want to know if it is possible to bake a turkey in a roaster rather than in the oven.  And is it possible to still use one of those bags.  I really need help on this one.  Thanks

I'm not sure about the bag but if you're talking about one of those Nesco roasters, I'm sure you can cook a turkey in it. Isn't there a turkey pictured in it, on the box that the roaster comes in? I think so.

if it is the stand alone roaster, do you still have the instruction manual? or go to the company's website and see. i do not know why you could not.

It sure is, my wife does it all the time, I think it cooks about a half hour faster myself, and moist, let me tell you, she has never had a dry bird when using the roaster...

You will need to butter the skin of the turkey the last hour or so to help brown it, roasters don't brown as fast as ovens do, also place a wire rack below the turkey first, this may be needed to get the super moist bird out...

Other than that, it is great and it frees up you oven for other dishes that require baking...

I have a betty crocker roaster that I make my thanksgiving turkey in (22lb) every year!!

YES! You can do it.

It does get "hot" and stay hot. The first year I used the roaster, the bird was done in about 3 hours.............watch the heat level and your time.

I do not use a bag. I use a stick of butter inbetween the breasts and skin, and 2 sticks of butter inside the cavity. Then about 4 cups of homemade chicken stock.

It is very juicy, moist, and mmmmmm good!!
